Our gospel meeting. From May 14-18 we had a gospel meeting with brother Martín Padilla of Chihuahua, Mexico, doing the preaching. We were with Martín and the brethren of the Samaniego St. congregation in Chihuahua a year ago (same month) and were impressed with the good work they are doing, so we were pleased that the brethren here wanted to have Martín in a meeting this Spring. It was well attended and he brought very good lessons.

Another baptism. I had visited Oscar Nieto some time back but was not successful in getting him to attend. But just before the meeting he began attending and I continued to study with him. Then on Sunday afternoon, the last day of our meeting, he called me saying he was ready to be baptized.

Gospel Meeting in Kerrville. Faye and I thoroughly enjoyed being with the Kerrville brethren again (May 29-June 1). As you know we lived there for three years before coming to Odessa and they are like family to us. We had visitors from the community and also from the English congregation in Kerrville (Junction Highway), San Antonio, New Braunfels, Edinburg and Eagle Pass. There are four young married men in the congregation that are showing real growth and responsibility.
