Hay muchos enfermos -- 1 Corintios 11:30 -- Many are sick

Introducción. Todos estamos preocupados por la salud física. Gastamos mucho tiempo, dinero (medicina, operaciones) para preservarla.

Introduction. We are all concerned about our physical health. We spend much time, money (medicine, operations) to preserve it.

But we should be even more concerned about our spiritual health. Unfortunately very few take it seriously.

The pains of the soul are not like a headache or other bodily pain, but there is pain in the soul.

Ps. 90:10, “The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”

Somos eternos. Ecles. 3:11, “ha puesto la eternidad en sus corazones”.

But the soul (the spirit) is immortal, it never dies, it will not be annihilated, does not sleep. We are eternal. Eccl. 3:11, “He has put eternity in their hearts.”

Matt. 25:46, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.“ Lk. 16:22, “died… was buried. And in Hades lifted his eyes being in torment.”

There are serious illnesses that concern us, those of the heart, cancer, diabetes, stroke, etc. Thank God there is much help for such illnesses.

But we should be a thousand times more concerned about spiritual illnesses that lead to eternal punishment in the fire of hell.

Isaiah 1:5, “The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head, There is no soundness in it, But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores.”

Enfermedades de la cabeza. (1) Ignorancia, Mat. 13:15, no quieren aprender; 15:14, “seguidores ciegos”; Efes. 4:18. 2 Ped. 3:4. No piensan por sí mismos.

Infirmities of the head. (1) Ignorance, Matt. 13:15, don’t want to know; 15:14, blind followers; Eph. 4:18. 2 Pet. 3:4. Do not think for themselves.

(2) Pensamientos carnales, Mar. 7:21; Sant. 1:14. Pensamientos mundanos, corruptos. El remedio: Col. 3:15; Fil. 4:8.

(2) Fleshly thoughts, Mk. 7:21; James 1:14. Worldly corrupt thoughts. Remedy: Col. 3:15; Phil. 4:8

(3) Enseñanza falsa: evolución… secularismo… Religiones falsas: catolicismo... calvinismo pentecostalismo… materialismo “religioso”… liberalismo… La cabeza está muy enferma.

(3) False teaching: evolution… secularismo… False religions: Catholicism… Calvinism… Pentecostalismo… “Religious” materialism… Liberalism… The head is very sick.

Enfermos del corazón (mente, voluntad, emociones, conciencia). Hech. 8:21, corazón no recto con Dios. Millones en esta condición. Corazón rebelde.

Illnesses of the heart (mind, will, emotions, conscience). Acts 8:21, heart not right with God. Millions in this condition. Rebellious heart.

Necesitan corazón nuevo. Ezeq.

Need a new heart. Ezek. 11:19, “"Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh…”

Col. 2:18, “vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head.” The “fleshly mind” produces the “works of the flesh,” Gal. 5:19-21.

Prov. Efes. 4:30, amargura, ira, malicia – corazón putrefacto, podrido. ¡Muy enfermo!

Prov. 14:31, “A tranquil heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.” Eph. 4:30, bitterness, wrath, malice – rotten heart. Very sick!

Spiritual blindness is very common. Jn. 9:39, “And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind."

2 Cor. 4:4, “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

Is blind or shortsighted. 2 Pet. 1:9, add to our faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, love… he who lacks these things is blind or shortsighted.

Iglesia ciega.

Blind church. Rev. 3:15, "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth…17 Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' -- and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked –”

Algunos desmayan (anemia).

Some faint (anemia). Gal. 6:9, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not faint” (if we don’t get discouraged, lose heart).”

Some faint when exhorted. Heb. 12:5, "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by Him.”

They faint because of problems. 2 Cor. 4:16, “Therefore we do not faint. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.”

1 Cor. 11:30, “many are weak and sick among you.” Corrupted Lord’s Supper, there were jealousies, division, fornication, litigation, misuse of Spiritual gifts, etc.

Christ is the Good Physician of the soul. Lk. 4:18, “He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind…”

Christ is perfectly qualified. His “credentials” are exhibited clearly in His life, His teaching and His works. He Himself was never sick!

John 8:46, “Which of you convicts me of sin?” 1 Pet. 2:22, “who did no sin nor was guile found in His mouth.” Heb. 7:26, “holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners…”

Christ is the only physician who has all knowledge and is perfectly capable of healing, understands every spiritual illness and can heal everyone, and has the resources of heaven for His work.

He has full compassion for the sick. Matt. 9:36, “Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered like sheep without a shepherd.”

Luke 19:41, “When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it.”

Heb. 4:15, He can “sympathize with our weaknesses.”

Jesus recommends surgery. Matt. 5:28-30, “if your right eye (or right hand) causes you to sin, tear it out and cast it from you; for it is better to lose one of your members than for your whole body to go into hell.”

Many do not take advantage of the remedy. Jeremiah 8:22, “Is there no balm in Gilead, Is there no physician there? Why then is there no recovery For the health of the daughter of my people?”

The teaching of Christ and the apostles “heals” – it is “sound doctrine.” 2 Tim. 1:13, Hold fast the pattern of sound words.” 4:3, “they will not endure the sound doctrine…turn to fables..”

Christ’s medicine is bitter for some. Matt. 19:9, “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery."

Matt. 19:21, “"If you want to be perfect (complete), go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me… went away sorrowful…”

Prov.

Prov. 4:20, “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 22 For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.” How much more the teaching of Christ!

Muchos se curan solos. Escuchan a familiares, amigos, no buscan ayuda competente; usan cualquier remedio.

Many doctor themselves. They listen to relatives, friends, do not seek competent help; they use whatever kind of remedy. Jer. 8:11, "They heal the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially.”

Many are content with whatever salves their conscience. It is sad to see loved ones who are sick but do not want to go to competent doctors.

Rom. 6:23.

Sin is a deadly disease. Common concept is that there are mortal sins, but there are also venial sins. In God’s eyes all sin is like leprosy of the soul. Rom. 6:23.

Isa. 53:4, 5, “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows… by His stripes we are healed…” 1 Pet. 2:24.

Jesus did miracles of healing to show that He can and wants to heal the soul: blind, deaf-mutes, maimed, paralyzed, demon-possessed, lepers, raised the dead.

¿A quién sana? 1 Ped. 1:22, 23; 3:21.

Whom does He heal? 1 Pet. 1:22, 23; 3:21. He invites everyone (Matt. 11:28), but heals only the ones who respond to His invitation and obey Him.
